Cherry Pipes powers forward with green energy and carbon reduction
Sustainability has always been at the heart of Cherry Pipes. Across all three manufacturing sites, the company continues to invest in green energy – not just as a business decision, but as a long-term commitment to the planet.
A large share of the power used to run Cherry Pipes’ extrusion lines is generated on-site through combined heat and power (CHP) units, fuelled by biomethane gas. These systems reduce reliance on external energy and cut emissions – a project close to founder David Cherry’s heart. For over two decades, he’s championed the role manufacturers must play in tackling climate change.
In January 2024, Cherry Pipes took this even further by launching a formal carbon reduction roadmap. Backed by the full leadership team, the plan sets out clear year-on-year targets to cut emissions across operations. The aim is simple: to become one of the most sustainable manufacturers in their sector across the UK and Ireland.
While many businesses are only now entering the market with “carbon-friendly” product ranges, Cherry Pipes has been doing this for over 15 years. Nearly 100% of the products they manufacture are made from recycled materials – a fact that gives their customers real confidence when specifying for green projects.
For those focused on sustainability, a visit to Cherry Pipes’ recycling facilities is always an eye-opener. It’s a rare opportunity to see first-hand how genuine environmental responsibility can go hand in hand with performance, scale, and industry-leading supply.
